David's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Veasley Funeral Home. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of David Conley, Jr.

David Wesley Conley, Jr., affectionately known as "Dave, Jr.", was born July 11, 1934 in the Friendship Community of Conway, AR to David W. Conley, Sr. and Lula Thomas Conley. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age. David, Jr. graduated from Dunbar High School in Little Rock, AR then moved to Cleveland, OH in his early twenties. He enlisted in the Army from Sept 1956 to June 1962 and served in the Vietnam War. In May of 1959 he married the love of his life, Lois Teen Gault. To this union 5 children were born. After relocating back to Arkansas, Dave, Jr. worked at Virco 11 years to support his family. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from State Teachers College of AR (now known as UCA) on May 5, 1973.
Dave, Jr. was ordained as a deacon at Friendship Baptist Church in May of 1977. He later attended Arkansas Tech University and obtained a Bachelor of Science in August 1988. Dave, Jr. always expressed the importance of education and work to his children and grandchildren. Dave, Jr. was a master jack of all trades! He accrued several licenses and certificates as a Master Plumber, Licensed Sanitarian, and Health Inspector. Dave, Jr. worked at Maumelle Land Development Co. during the inception of the city. As a contractor and entrepreneur, he started D&L Construction and built 22 homes in the central Arkansas area.
Dave, Jr. worked as an Environmental Health Specialist for the Faulkner County Health Unit for 21 years before retiring April 30, 2010. His work did not stop there! He continued to serve his church as a senior deacon and other auxiliaries until May 2024. For his 90th birthday he received a capitol citation from the Arkansas State Capitol to honor the many contributions made to his community and state.
Dave, Jr. is proceeded in death by his parents; brother, Leroy Conley; sisters, Marvell Blackmon, and Irene Jenkins.
Dave, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 65 years - Lois T. Conley; 6 children -Joy A. Perry of Cleveland, OH, Vivian Smith, Billy Joe Conley, Camron Garner (Rick), Steven Conley (Janice), and David L. Conley all of Conway, AR; 18 Grandchildren: LaShonda, Tristian, Troy D’Sean, Stymetra, Quinton, Kymberlee, Jaelon, Jordan, Yolanda, Adrienona, Danyiel, Julius, Bianca, Stephanee, Rasheed, Jirah, Steven, Javen; 10 Great-Grandchildren; Sister-in-law, Willie Jean Thomas of West Bloomfield, MI as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins including a special cousin Charlie Thomas (Dorothy) of Conway, AR.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, November 15, 2024 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at Veasley Funeral Home.
Celebration of life service with precessional viewing will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024, 11:00am at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 146 Taylor Circle, Conway, Arkansas 72032.
Committal service and final resting place will be held at Friendship Cemetery, Conway, Arkansas.
