In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the DeHorney Family. Delores's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Delores DeHorney.

Our Heavenly Father has called a Love One home. Mrs. Delores Ferrell DeHorney was born March 27, 1945, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Lonnie and Eva Ferrell. She departed this life on August 27, 2024.
Delores confessed a hope in Christ at an early age when she became a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. She attended Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta, Georgia and later graduated from Carl Albert State College.
On August 17, 1963, she was united in marriage to Chaplain Clifton DeHorney III. This union produced three (3) children; Clifton DeHorney IV, Delmonica DeHorney-Hawkins and Lonettia DeHorney-Sparks. She began her service as a First Lady in the early 1970’s in Denison, Texas. She served as First Lady at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Poteau, Oklahoma for sixteen (16) years. Her passion was music and the women’s ministry. Thereafter; she took these passions to the Greater Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Spiro, Oklahoma; and this would be the last church under her care.
Mrs. Delores DeHorney leaves to cherish her memories with three (3) adoring children: Clifton DeHorney IV & his wife Pam of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Delmonica Hawkins & her husband Jackson of Baltimore, Maryland; and Lonettia Sparks & her husband Jarret of Claremont, CA. Five (5) siblings: Larry (Marilyn) Ferrell, Suzanne Manning, Gregory (Sharon) Ferrell, Pamela Collins, and Frederick (Kris) Ferrell. She was blessed with eight (8) grandchildren: Julia, Jordan, Clifton, Cassidy, Sidney, Kennedy, Jarrett, and Jamie; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Chaplain Clifton DeHorney III, her four (4) siblings Eva Ferrell, Lonnie Mack Ferrell, Myra Ferrell and Claudia Rainwater.
Visitation for family and friends will be Friday September 13, 2024; 9:00am-4:30pm at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th St., Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday September 14, 2024; 11:00am at Mt. Triumph Missionary Baptist Church 15802 Ft. Coffee Rd., Fort Coffee, Oklahoma 74959.
Burial and final resting place: Monday September 16, 2024; 9:00am Fort Smith National Cemetery 522 Garland Ave., Fort Smith, Arkansas.
