John Earl Easterwood was born March 8, 1944 to the late Plummer, Sr. and Blanche Easterwood in Conway, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. He departed this life on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Conway Regional Medical Center. He accepted Christ at an early age at the Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Up until his retirement, Earl worked many years in construction. He loved the outdoors, farming, his garden, and staying very busy! Earl was a very humorous person, who always had something funny to say, or a joke to tell. Most importantly, he was a genuinely kind man who was willing to help anyone he could.

Earl leaves to cherish his loving memory, the love of his life, his wife, Evelyn Malcum-Easterwood. They were married for 47 years, and until the very end, he expressed his love for Evelyn, and she expressed her love for him. Evelyn was the epitome of a dedicated wife. Throughout Earl's illness, she was with him every day. She was there by his side when he transitioned.

Earl was the father of five children, Angela, Christopher, Nakia, Hester, and a daughter who preceded him in death, Derhonda Ann. He had 14 grandchildren who adored him; 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He had one very special son-in-law who was really more like another son, Ronald Morrison.

We will always remember Earl with a laugh and a smile. Because, he was our bright light in a dark world. A man who brought joy and happiness to all who knew him. May Earl rest in the arms of the One who made him so very special, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Walk through visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, November 8, 2024 from 12:00pm to 5:00pm at Veasley Funeral Home.

Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024, 1:00 pm at  Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 146 Taylor Cir, Conway AR.

Committal service and final resting place will be held at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
