James Earl Pierce, Sr. was born in Caseyville, Mississippi on May 31, 1929. He was one of eighteen children born to the union of the late Henry and Naomi Adams Pierce. He departed this earthly life on Thursday, April 1, 2021.

James was raised in a Christian home and attended St. Paul on the River church and school in Caseyville. James was drafted into the Army on July 29, 1952 and was a twenty year veteran of the United States Army serving in France, Vietnam, Okinawa, Bangkok, Alaska and several other military campaigns.
