In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Roberts family. James’ earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. James Roberts.

James Edward Roberts was born on Friday, May 26, 1961 to Sharon Belcher and the late Carl W. Roberts, Sr. in Roland, Oklahoma. He was called by God peacefully to take his eternal rest on Friday, October 30, 2020. He was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Mattie Jean Williams; his uncle, Carl W. Roberts, Jr.; and his aunt, Patsy Jean McElwee.
James started attending the Joseph M. Hills, and then later, he attended the Roger Bost School (aka Bost, Inc.). At the age of 18, he started working at the Abilities Unlimited, Inc. He worked for them for over 40 years. He truly enjoyed watching wrestling; he knew every wrestler. He also treasured coloring and drawing. His other love was going fishing.
James accepted Christ as his personal Savior. He was baptized at Unity Missionary Baptist Church by the late Pastor Lorenzo Lee. He was a well-liked guy, who never met a stranger. His two cousins, Monique Williams and Shelia Bird of Flint, Michigan, willingly and kindly donated his beautiful urn to the family. He was everybody’s friend. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and treasured his presence.
James will be forever remembered by his mother, Sharon Belcher; his step-father, Herman Belcher both of Fort Smith, Arkansas; his brother, Christopher Belcher of Chicago, Illinois; his three sisters, Sonja (Kelvin) Williams of Springdale, Arkansas, Elethia Roberts (caretaker), and Temena Sheppard both of Fort Smith, Arkansas; his special friend, Roberta Johnson of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, November 6, 2020 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Unity Missionary Baptist Church 1301 North 13th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
