In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Walker Family. Marion's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Marion Louise Walker.

Marion Louise Walker was a gift from God to the union of Dennis and Ozella “Babe” Mae Walker on Wednesday, September 14, 1960. She was called to enter into her eternal rest on Thursday, November 24, 2024 (Thanksgiving evening). Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James “Pookie” Walker, Sr., sister, Delores “Sissy” Richardson and nephew, James Walker, Jr. Marion attended Fort Smith Public Schools and graduated from Northside High School with the Class of 1978.

 

Marion accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend E.M. Smith, Sr., where she served as Choir Director for many years. She later joined Greater Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church , where she was a member of the Choir and Dance Team Ministry. Later in life, Marion welcomed a beautiful daughter into the family, Maegen; who was the youngest of the Walker grandchildren.  Marion later; along with her daughter, joined the congregation at St. James Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend G.L. Hinkle, Sr., and current pastor Reverend Judge Green, IV where she was a member of the Mass Choir until her health begin to fail.

Marion worked faithfully with the Fort Smith Public School System for over twenty (24) years, first as a Librarian at Parker Elementary , Trusty Elementary,  Beard Elementary, Cavanaugh   Elementary and retired from Tilles Elementary in 2021; where she was a Secretary. She put her “all” into making everyone she came in contact with feel “loved”. Like her Mother and Sister before her, she was always well-dressed from head-to-toe.

 

Marion leaves to cherish and celebrate her life, a daughter: Maegen Walker (Lerell Morning) of Burlington, North Carolina; three (3) grandchildren: Mark (Tre) Stevens III, Truely Morning and Logic Morning. Two (2) sisters: Denise Walker-Jones, and Margret A. Walker both of Fort Smith, Arkansas. One (1) adopted sister: Tina Owens; Six (6) Godchildren: Shanana Harris, James Harris, Kemel Harris (deceased), Dania Hill, Dee Brumfield and Kingston McKinney. Adopted daughters (Maegan’s BFFs), along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

 

Walk through visitation for family and friends will be held Friday December 13, 2024; 11:00am - 6:00pm (family hour 5-6pm) Rowell-Parish Mortuary Chapel 611 North 9th St., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.


Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday December 14, 2024; 11:00am St. James Missionary Baptist Church 4916 High Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.


Burial and final resting place: Washington Cemetery North 54th St., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
