Russell’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Russell Lewis Cole, Sr.

Russell Lewis Cole, Sr. was gift from God to the late Oscar and Voyle (Gentry) Cole, Sr. on Wednesday, June 22, 1938 in Huntington, Arkansas. He was called to take his eternal rest on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 63 years: Sandra Cole; his five brothers: Marvin, Omar, Billy, Nathan, George and Harrald; his five sisters: Jewel, Barbara, Wanda, Dorothy, Mildred and Sylvia; two great-grandchildren: La’Roy Roussell, Jr. and Phillip Jaxston Spence.
Russell was educated in the Fort Smith Public Schools, and he graduated from Lincoln High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and received an honorable discharge. He worked for Plunkett Music Company, where he retired after many years of service. His spare time was spent with family playing dominoes and cards. He also loved playing with grandchildren and the great-grandchildren.
Russell leaves to cherish his memories his two daughters: Virginia (Pernell) Williams of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Barbara Shaw of Little Rock, Arkansas; his son: Russell Cole, II of Russellville, Arkansas; his seven grandchildren: Martyn (Eariona) Page, Nickyla (La’Roy) Roussell, Jasmine Cole, Michel’Le (Sharvelt) Mister, Atianna Smith, Lanashia Cole, and Shantrell (Joseph) Henry; 17 great-grandchildren; his little brother: Oscar Cole, Sr. of Lawton, Oklahoma and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, January 28, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 11 a.m. at King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church 3509 Johnson Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
