In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Pierce family. Samuel's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Veasley Funeral Home. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Samuel Pierce.

Samuel Edward Pierce was born November 21, 1939 to the union of the late Henry Pierce and Naomi Adams Pierce in Lincoln County (Caseyville) Mississippi. from this union 18 children were born and Samuel was the eighteenth child. He made his peaceful transition on Monday, September 2, 2024.

 

Sam was raised in a Christian household and attended St. Paul on the River Church and graduated from Lloyd Star High School in Caseyville, MS. Sam followed the footsteps of his older brothers and joined the US Army in 1965. While in the service he achieved the National Defense , Viet Nam, Viet Nam Campaign , Combat Infantryman's and Sharpshooter (rifle) badges.

 

Sam loved his family and when he completed his Service he moved to Cleveland, Ohio where six of his siblings had moved and made their home; he worked at one of the larger plants (TRW co.) in Cleveland.

 

In later years, he moved back to his roots in Mississippi to help with the care of his two older sisters. He again moved, this time to Conway, Arkansas where he met the love of his life and in 1997 married Zenaida Reyes.

 

Sam had a strong work ethic and although he was retired, he went to work at the Kroger Co. and retired, again, after 5 years.

 

Sam further showed his love of Christ in 1997 by joining New Zion Temple Church of God and Christ in Conway, AR under their shepherd Bishop Frank J. Anderson, Jr. During his membership at New Zion Temple he was an integral part of the church administration team serving as Chairman of the Deacon Board, Sunday School Superintendent and the Finance Committee. He believed in doing whatever was needed no matter how big or small to further the church's ministry.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents; nine brothers, Oris, Beau James, Vodra, Henry, Julius, Oscar, Claude, Carl and James; five sisters, Beulah, Naomi, Alma, Mattie Lene and Marie and his daughter, Sophia.

 

Sam will be remembered for his love of Christ and family. He leaves to cherish and honor his memory, a loving wife, Zenaida; one brother, Colon (Elmira) Pierce; two sons, John (Brenda )Bush, of Columbus, OH, Gary (Nicole) Wade of Byram, MS; one daughter Monique of Cleveland, OH; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild; three sister-in-laws Meriline R. (Harry) White  of Little Rock, AR, Jessie M. Pierce , Mayflower, AR and Karen E. Pierce, Springfield, AR and a host of nieces, nephews, precious family members and dear friends.


Walk through visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, September 6, 2024 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at Veasley Funeral Home.


Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024, 11:00am at New Zion Temple Church of God In Christ, 1272 Sutton St., Conway, Arkansas 72032.


Committal service and final resting place will be held at Robinson Cemetery, Conway, Arkansas.
