Ms. Willie's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Veasley Funeral Home. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Ms. Willie Simpson.

Willie Marie Simpson, 86, of Conway, Arkansas peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord on September 26, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Willie was born on September 14, 1938 in Solgahachia, Arkansas to the late Frank and Sarah Simpson. Raised by her grandmother, the late Mary Bailey, she grew up in a nurturing and faith-filled environment.


Willie attended Pine Street High School, where she graduated in 1957, and went on to attend Morris Booker Baptist College in Dermott, Arkansas. For many years, she worked diligently as a housekeeper, building lifelong bonds with the Anderson family of Conway, Arkansas and Gail Mallett Dickens of Morrilton, Arkansas.


At the young age of 17, Willie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Union Baptist Church in Conway, Arkansas. In 1962, after moving to Morrilton, Arkansas, she became a devoted member of Greater Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as an Usher for 15 years. When she could no longer serve as a standing Usher, she transitioned to a Pulpit Usher for an additional 20 years, demonstrating her steadfast commitment to her faith and church community. Her warmth and presence left a lasting mark on everyone who entered the church doors.


In addition to her parents and grandmother, Willie was preceded in death by her two brothers, William Simpson and Kenneth Simpson. She is survived by her sisters and brothers, Diane Simpson of Detroit, Michigan, David Carolina, Jr., Johnnie Carolina, Ruth Criswell, Sylvester and Barbara Carolina, Larry Stricklen, Leroy Locket, Glen Hersey, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.


The family extends special thanks to her primary caregivers, Jean and David Carolina, Geraldine Criswell, and the compassionate staff of Superior Health and rehabilitation in Conway, Arkansas for their loving care and support in her final years.


Willie's life was a testament of her love for God, family, and community. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of faith and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.


Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024, 11:00am at Greater Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 23 Sandtown Rd., Morrilton, Arkansas.


Ms. Willie will lie in state Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Greater Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church.


Committal service and final resting place will be held at Pilgrim Church Cemetery, Solgahachia, Arkansas.

Willie was a wonderful person who looked after me and my sisters for many years. She was patient and kind and remained a part of our lives even after we grew up. I will miss her deeply but am grateful for having known her.

Willie was a person you would have been blessed to have ever met. She was part of my family since I was a baby. I will miss her calls and laughs, she was truly a wonderful person that will be missed by anyone that knew her.

One of the sweetest ladies I have ever known. We knew Willie for over 45 years. She helped me raise my 3 children. She was the one of the most dependable, loyal, trustworthy and kind persons you would ever know. We will NEVER forget her or stop LOVING her. She will be missed by our whole family.
